Baby Fever and Old Friends

I went to a baby shower for a very dear and long time friend last night, and there were so many adorable little babies there. And the pregnant ladies were out in full force. Oh, it makes me want a little person of my own.sigh. It was great to see so many people there to support the life of this little baby and his family. And I have to admit that baby clothes are ridiculously cute. I did however learn some new terminology that I had not been introduced to yet. Evidently there are things called hooter hiders for nursing moms. that's a new one. I also got to hear many a horror story about nursing, and all of the joys of motherhood.Lol.

While there I ran into about a million people that I used to know and blasts from the past. on top of that i have been hanging out with friends from yesteryear a lot lately. It is so weird how people walk into and out of your life so casually. It is so great to catch up with some of my old friends and become new friends again. Although, I must say that there are some people that I would rather leave in my past. A friend of ours just attended his 10 year high school reunion, and i found myself wondering "Would I even want to go to my 10 year high school reunion?" I think not. Maybe it's just me, but I don't really miss high school. I love where my life has taken me since then, and anyone that I am curious about i can find on facebook now a days. I guess that is my two cents worth.

kid tested, mother-in-law approved?

I am not going to lie. I have had to earn a good relationship with my mother-in-law. It did not come easy for me. Which is weird, because in high school all the parents of my friends loved me. Anyway, I am glad that we are at a place where things are good, but for a long time we just did not understand each other. So I was surprised at the event that occurred this week.

My in-laws were giving my husband and I a ride to the airport. We get into there car and there are books on pregnancy stacked in the middle of the seat. I think to myself " I wonder who is having a baby?" Then I hear my mom-in-law say "Oh, Elizabeth I picked up a few books at the store for you." Ah-ha! The books are for me. Blake and I exchange a quizzical look at each other in the back seat of the car.hmmm. A few years ago I thought that she didn't even want him to marry me and now I am certified to procreate with her only son. I have really moved up in the world.lol. The second thought that I had was, "Does she know something I don't know? What brought this on?" hmmm. I can only assume that we had talked to her about trying to have babies next year. I mean that is why I am trying to lose weight this year. Either way, I am stoked that she approves of Blake and I having kids. Yea, for babies. I am finally mother-in-law approved.

You know that you are getting old when...

So today I went to garage sales with a friend. I had looked forward to the garage sales for a couple of days before. It really made me think. You know you are getting old when.....

1) You look forward to garage sales as a valid form of shopping and entertainment, and even have a game plan

2) All of your friends are having babies

3) People ask if you have kids and when you say not yet they give you a look like you have the plague and wonder what is wrong with you.

4) When you use the phrase "Bless his/her heart..." right before you say something a little judgemental about someone

5) You can't go to the grocery store without a binder of coupons and and hour of planning.

6) When you look forward to living in a ranch because you are tired of going up stairs all of the time.

On a completely different note, it is a little crazy that one man's trash really is another man's treasure (especially when the second guy is super poor). lol. I went and found a few things to use in my obsessive need to craft. I picked up a pattern to make the little things that go on the buggies at the grocery stores for the chillins. It seems that everyone is having a baby lately, and i have to learn to make gifts or I will go broke from all of the baby showers. First you hit the age when all of your friends are getting married and then you hit the phase where all of your friends are having babies. It is a little crazy. When did I get this old?
