Rain Delay? and the "Good 'ol Days"

Do you ever notice how so many things in life get put off and rearranged thanks to the weather? For instance, I have been dying to play disc golf at the park now that it is not a million degrees everyday, however it has been raining cats and dogs everyday since the beginning of last week. I mean I know that we were in a drought and all, but really? We need this much rain. Parts of Gwinnett County got 9 inches over night! WTF?! There was flash flooding and mini mudslides and everything. They cancelled school this morning on account of the rain. Which leads me to another thought.... Are we pansies now?

I turned 26 last week and it seems that I already feel older and find myself reflecting on the follies of my youth.lol. Okay so I am not that old, but I do feel that I have a different perspective on life than I did even a few years ago. Here are a few of the things that I notice....

1. People put nets around their trampolines now. When i was younger there were no nets. If you did something stupid then you fell off and broke your arm. lesson learned.

2. They cancel school over rain? I remember driving to school to take finals in an ice storm passing the vast amounts of cars that slid off the road and traffic accidents out the yin yang. Still had to go.

3. Hand sanitizer- When I was younger there were no hand sanitizers. You washed your hands when you went to bathroom and that was it. That was why recess was after lunch. If it was before we would all go out touch bugs, get dirty, and high five the kid with the flu then come in and eat lunch without ever having a second thought about it. Everything was fair gain. I can not imagine all of the germs that we brought home from school back then, and we survived just fine. There was no MRSA and Swine Flu.

4. Antibiotics- remember when people only took antibiotics when they had really bad infections. Now it is used for every common cold. Suck it up people. Antibiotics do not kill the cold, nothing does. You are feeding your kids all of these antibiotics and they are making the new diseases that are antibiotic resistant. Take a breather.Invest in some sudafed and drink some fluids. Your body will never learn to fight it off if you keep babying it.

5. Doctors. I only go to the doctor if I am bleeding, violently vomiting, or have a fever over 101 degrees. That is the way it should be. Stop wasting every one's time and money with doctor visits over the sniffles and paper cuts. It is annoying, it costs money, and it makes it take longer for the people who really need to see the doctor. If you have a cold stay home, invest in sudafed, drink fluids and wait it out. Why pay a $25 co-pay for the doctor to tell you that? Stop taking your kids to the doctor because you don't have time for them to be sick. Stop being selfish and deal with it.

I think that is about it for now. I am sorry that I am so opinionated. Hopefully I do not offend you, but this is just how I feel.
