Cruelty to Pregnant Women!
So yesterday I had an ultrasound at 25 weeks. The directions were to drink 20 oz. of clear fluids the hour before the exam and not to go tinkle. Are you serious?! Here is how it went down... So I started out by drinking my 20 somewhat ounces of water and eating so that the baby would move and get good measurements (she wouldn't cooperate last time). Well by the time I got to the medical center I thought that I was about to pee my pants, and it didn't help that she was kicking around in there! So I broke the rule and went tinkle 15 minutes before I was supposed to have the ultrasound, and then out of guilt I bought a 20 oz. water from a small coffee store there and downed it right before i checked in. In the waiting room I could feel the perfect storm brewing as she was bouncing all over my bladder. I seriously was in pain and this close to going in the chair of the lobby. I was terrified to stand up. In fact, when they finally called my name I told the ultrasound technician that I was about to pee my pants, and it took me forever to waddle back there carefully. I knew that one wrong move would mean the walk of shame to the car that afternoon. We got there I laid down and she started the exam. I spent the whole ultrasound whimpering and cringing as she and the baby pushed and conspired to make my bladder miserable. At point I even started to tear up. Finally she said we were done and I waddled carefully to the bathroom. I was so upset that the pictures were blurry and that I didn't get a chance to enjoy it, all because she wouldn't stop and let me tinkle. She was like the tinkle Nazi. She even made me feel like I was being a big baby. argh. Maybe, I am but I do not need her to point it out. I peed four times in one hour that afternoon, and that is just craziness. I have decided that it is cruel to have pregnant women drink that much, and then not let them pee. grrrrr. That, and the glucose test. Those should both be considered cruelty to pregnant women. I mean let's face it, technology has come a long way. We have super computers,we can grow organs, clone animals, and we have robots that perform surgery. Are you seriously telling me that this is the best way we have to check the blood sugar, and take pictures of the baby. Hmmm. I say that they should find a better, even nicer method.

it is cruel and unusual punishment - I do have to say that I had a giggle reading your blog this time, only because I have SO been there.(two times) Once they even told me that Jon couldn't go back there with me? I about had a meltdown. I don't understand why women have to have a full bladder to get a good ultrasound reading of our uterus? hmmm? two different body parts. I think that they like to watch us squirm. Sorry the pictures were blurry :( I do agree with you though - it is no fun!
